šŸ’‡ā€ā™€ļø Back in Black

This post is to let you know that I’ll be back working in the salon in a few weeks, so I’ve started taking appointments again. Like before, you can book online or you can text/call me at (540) 514-6230.

My schedule is largely the same as before, however I will be working slightly fewer hours at first as my husband and I adjust to being parents of two. If you’re booking online and are having trouble finding an appointment that works for you, please reach out to me. I can sometimes find an opening that the booking software doesn’t see, and if not, I can put you on a cancellation list.

Thanks again for all your well wishes! Looking forward to seeing you soon!

šŸ‘¶ It Takes Two!

Hello!

I wanted to put up a quick post to let my clients know that I had my baby last week. Everything went great! Both me and the baby are doing well (although we’re both pretty tired!) and our three year old is very obsessed with his little brother (maybe too much).

My tentative plan is still to be back at work around mid-April. I’ll send out another email in about a month or so when I’m ready to start booking appointments again. In the meantime, if you need to get your hair done, feel free to contact my friends in studio #10 in the same building who will take great care of you.

Steph Wolford – (801) 717-5078 (mobile)
Taylor Karlsson – (801) 918-1338 (mobile)

Thank you so much for your continued support of my business and my family!

😷 Back Again

Hello!

I sincerely hope this message finds you well. As many of you know, I stopped taking appointments during Utah’s Stay Safe, Stay Home directive. Since then, the state has made great strides in testing, contact tracing, and hospital capacity. In light of that, Governor Herbert has issued guidelines for re-opening! (By the way, if you haven’t already read the Utah Leads Together 2.0 plan, I recommend it. There’s a lot of valuable information there.)

In compliance with the new guidelines, I’ve instituted policies designed to keep myself and my clients as safe as possible. However, salon services are close-contact by nature and individual clients need to decide for themselves if it’s worth the risk to them. I’m sharing the following information to help you make that choice.

A (Non-Exhaustive) List of What I’m Doing

  • I’ll be thoroughly disinfecting surfaces between every appointment. This means I will not be ā€œsqueezingā€ anyone in or double-booking. All appointments will be 15 minutes longer when booking online to allow for time to properly clean between clients.
  • There will be no waiting areas inside the building, so clients will wait in their cars until the time of their appointments.
  • Sola’s front doors will be locked at all times to minimize foot traffic. Don’t worry, I’ll let you in when my chair is ready for you.
  • I’ll be scanning everyone’s temperature with a touch-free thermometer at the door.
  • I’ll provide hand sanitizer (but if you bring your own, you’re welcome to use that instead).
  • In keeping with recommendations from the CDC, the WHO, and the State of Utah, I will be wearing a mask.
  • The State currently requires that I wear gloves. As of May 7th, wearing gloves is no longer required. Ask me about it when I see you and I'll tell you why I'm happy about that.
  • I will not be providing services that I don’t feel can be done without a mask (for example, beard trimming or lip waxing).

Here’s What I’ll Need from You

  • The State requires that all clients wear a mask for the duration of their appointment. (See A Note About Masks below.)
  • Because the front door will be locked, please call from your car when you arrive and I’ll let you in when my chair is ready for you.
  • Please follow my new Scheduling Policies detailed below.

A Note About Masks

Your mask can totally be homemade or improvised as long it covers the mouth and nose. The ones with the behind-the-ear elastics will work best for getting your hair done. If you are getting your hair colored, expect some color to get on your mask. If you care to keep color off your mask and you have access to a disposable mask, I’d recommend that.

I’m hoping to be able to provide disposable masks, but they’re currently (rightly!) being prioritized for healthcare workers, so I can’t guarantee that they’ll be available. Update: I now have disposable masks available!

Call or text me at (540) 514-6230 if you have any trouble meeting this requirement and we’ll see what we can work out.

Scheduling Policies

Reschedule if

  • you are at all sick (also, get tested! Utah has increased testing capacity and it’s never been easier!);
  • you have been in contact with someone COVID-positive in the last 14 days;
  • you have travelled to a COVID hot-spot within the last 14 days.

Please do not come in at all if you or someone close to you is at high risk. This is up to you to decide, I won’t be checking birth certificates or health records at the door. Just add my voice to the choir of people telling you that it’s not worth it. If you’re not sure if you or your loved ones are high-risk, please see coronavirus.utah.gov/protecting-high-risk-individuals/.

Finally, please do not come in if you don’t feel comfortable. Do not come in out of any obligation to me, even if you already have an appointment. The most important thing to me is your safety. I’ll be happy to see you again and do your hair months or even years from now (we’ll have a lot to talk about!).

I will be holding myself to these same standards so there’s a very real chance I will need to reschedule your appointment on short notice.

Last Word

I really can’t thank you enough for your understanding and continued support during this extremely weird and difficult time. Please don’t hesitate to reach out at (540) 514-6230 with any questions you may have (or just to say hi!). Stay safe and I’ll see you when I see you!

šŸ’ā€ā™€ļø Guess Who's Back

Hello everyone!

Thank you so much for all of your well wishes after the birth of my baby! Getting to know my son has been one of the most magical experiences of my life.

This update is to let you know that I’ll be coming back to work this week—so feel free to text or call me at (540) 514-6230 to set up an appointment! As many of you are aware, I will now only be working two days a week, Wednesdays and alternating Friday evenings/Saturdays. This is what's best for my family right now, but as always I'll be sure to let you know if my schedule changes.

I understand that this schedule may not always work for everyone. If you absolutely, positively cannot do those days, please let me know because it may be possible to accommodate you, depending on schedules and circumstances. If it's not possible, though, the other girls at my salon are the best stylists I've ever worked with, and any of them will take great care of you anytime my schedule doesn't quite work.

Stephanie - (801) 717-5078
Taylor - (801) 918-1338
Mallory - (530) 329-2445 (she’s new at the salon but you’ll probably recognize her from Regis)

In other news: Online booking is now open again! You can now schedule at my brand new booking page, kittykane.com/book! You may notice changes to the process, since I've moved to a better booking platform. I'm very excited about it. As always, if the cold, unfeeling robot won't let you book because I'm "too busy", please text or call me because I can sometimes squeeze you in.

Thank you for your continued support. I look forward to seeing everyone again (and showing you a bunch of baby pictures)!

Many thanks!
- Kitty 😺

šŸ‘¶ Ooh! Baby, Baby!

Hello everyone!

Any who had appointments this week will already know, but I've got some exciting news: My baby was born on Tuesday! I had a C-section and everything went so smoothly; me, my baby, and my husband are all doing very well.

Because of the C-section, I've decided to take a little extra time off to recover. But, since the little one decided to show up just a little early, that still means I should be back to work with a new schedule around the middle of July. If that changes, I'll send out another super schmancy email. In any case, you can expect an email when I'm coming back.

While I'm getting to know my baby, please feel free to see Taylor (text or call (801) 918-1338) or Steph (text or call (801) 717-5078) who work with me at Studio Eclipse. Both are fantastic stylists who will take great care of you and I've left your color formulas with them, so they'll know what we usually do. Their prices may differ from mine, so if that's a concern be sure to check with them before you schedule your appointment.

Finally, and most importantly, I want to say a sincere thank you to all of you, my clients and friends, for all the love and support you've shown me in the past few months! Please feel free to text or call me anytime—my number is (540) 514-6230—although I'm sure you'll understand that I may not be able to get back to you right away. :)

Many thanks!
- Kitty 😺
